Cameron MacDonald is a songwriter recently based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Prior to his relocation, and deftly assisted by The Pieces Fit, he compiled a reflective, narrative driven collection of songs.
The debut single, 'Batman Bridge', is the rumination of a Tasmanian truck driver questioning his route options and taking a stand. The follow up single, ‘When All Is Said and Done’, is at once a looking ahead and a looking back. Looking forward to more restful times, to long postponed endeavours, to an elusive grand final win!
The third single is 'Bianca (Go Well Along Your Way)'.
"Another winner … I love Cameron’s stuff … simple, attractive and real".
- Allan Caswell
And the final single release is 'A Few Words Of Advice', which finds the protagonist staring at an old photo and offering his younger self some acquired pointed wisdom.
The debut album – A Trip To Northern Country - was conceived during a period of downtime, inspired by a series of trips into regional Australia and realised with stellar support from production team Lachlan Bryan and Damian Cafarella.
“Cameron came along with a bunch of songs he’d written about things other people don’t write about - real things, adult things, the kind of things that play on your mind. If you just read the lyrics, you’d expect to hear them croaked out with the gruff old voice of experience - but instead he sings with a gentle, calming lilt, drawing you into his thoughtful, highly individual worldview. He may seem cynical at times, but I hear a kind of shrewd optimism in Cameron's songs which made them a delight to work on".
